The hoop for the spinnaker snuffer has a mounting bracket that is shaped to fit the 1.5" OD tube so whatever I use has to fit that.
I was able to obtain a 12' piece of 6061-T6 tubing to the specifications above and assembled a new pole. Should be back at it next weekend. Couldn't get anodized finish so will be intersting to see how it holds up.

In the 7 years that I had a spinnaker on my cats I have never had an anodised spinnaker pole. It will hold up nicely. What happens is that it will turn dark grey and loose its shine and when you rub it hard with your hand then some of that drak grey colour will stay on your hand but that is all. I used monel rivets and stainless steel bolts on my poles and didn't use any isolator but the galvanic corrosion is so slow that you probably can use it for 10 years before the bolt/rivet holes wear out and you have to reposition the fittings.

JJD--I'm curious--how much did it cost?

Cost was $94 and change after taxes. A little pricey, but I only had to drive about 5 miles out of my way to pick up.
I later found the same section with clear anodize listed on the Rig-Rite spar site. Kenyon Marine offers that extrusion.
Didn't inquire about the price though as I'd already committed.

Thanks--I might need to get a longer pole to get my new kite to fit.
