I like to use the telescopic tiller handle in order to easily adjust my mast rake and tiller rake. Notice the quick pin that allows for easy transition between steering and raking.

I see from the picture, you are using a "garden" rake. I find a "hay" rake gives less drag, which translates into more speed.

Hay rakes may have finer tines, and a lower angle of attack, but they are far more difficult to fit into the hulls' access holes. Besides, the garden rake is more "green."
