I have got both and am very with them.
A commonly sold waterproof camera is the ATC2000 but the quality is nowhere near that of the GoPro3. Its also very waterproof, I recorded a pretty deep nosedive with the GoPro3 (frontbeam completely submerged) which I will post someday.
