hmmm... I like your thinking but can't really recall the waves being much of an issue over the regatta. We were sailing at Kurnell in Sydney in a south/south-easter so there wasn't much to speak of in terms of waves. A few big rollers curling round from the mouth of the bay but not really of much concern.
