Wait at Wet n Wild a few years ago I gave you a half gallon and come home to an invoice. WTF ?
Seriously thanks if you weren't chasing I probably would have never done it.
No worries Rich. I think if the general public saw sailboat racing from my vantage point, they would definitely get into it. Events like this have the ability to do wonders for cat racing. Several people came up to me at the club and made the standard comments like, "I sailed a Hobie 16 back in the day..." But then several people added, "I never realized how fast those spnnaker rigged cats go, I've only seen them sitting on the beach". One guy even said, "It's f*****ing incredible how fast those things are downwind". So there was definitely an air of amazement.
One slight thing, and I almost hesitate to initiate this here, but I think it needs to be addressed. We need to look at the charts a little better. Several people sailed in a restricted zone, and i think I motored into it as well. It started to turn into a pissing match over on SA and I spent the morning PMing the accusers to keep it on the positive. They deleted or edited their posts. (Thanks guys). No biggie, **** happens, as liaisons for the catamaran community venturing into the monohull racing world we have to dot our Is and cross our Ts a little more than most. The accused have called the RC and accepted their DSQ.
