Tiki Pete had (or still has?) a Wharram 21 I think, which is a plywood homebuilt cat for cruising.

It's not "Light" by beach cat standards, but much better for "cruising" as it's got lots of storage space and sleeping down below, and a hard deck as well as a tramp forward of the mast. I'll see if I can google up a picture of one. I saw one here on my lake for about $3,000 but that was years ago, don't know where it ended up.
