Chet,

One of the really cool things about racing at Huntington is the opportunity to hear the more seasoned sailors tell their tales of the bygone days... I've seen black and white photo's from the 60's of the I14's screaming down wind with their symmetrical spins and no wires.
You'll be interested to know that the I14's still race at Huntington each season and that they are now carbon nomex have lifting foils, plane upwind and down in just above a whisper of wind , canting centerboards, two wires, over 550 sq. ft. of sail and a fleet as tough and deep as any you can name! A new B5 will cost ya a bit over 30k - not including the drysuit...Doc and I shared a start with the I14's the past two seasons and we agreed that they are magnificently fast!

Best To You,

Paul
