I've never punched myself in the nuts when uncleating the main before, and ive never really thought of that happening before, but my personal pet peeves are when fishing boats feel like they have the right to take up half the GD lake with their cast. Twice I have snagged a line....Once I admit I was too close, but the other time, I was literally hundreds of feet from a sportboat and suddenly heard a someone start screaming........thats what I hate....

oh and, as soon as the rope is designated for sailing purposes, it is promoted to a line....... so even if you have options in the marine store, and it is on spools, you still have the options of different types of LINE not rope. Rope is what holds up a tent, line is what is used while sailing. When New England Ropes makes their product, it is rope, when it is shipped to the Marine Store, it becomes line.....Otherwise, anyone could buy their product and go mountain climbing, or camping, or make a swing out of it, then it is still rope, but on a boat is it a line. period.

Oh, and when you replace a sheet because it is old, and it gets thrown in the trunk of your car, or garage, or basement, or bedroom, or kitchen, or wherever, it is still a line. Despite the fact that it is no longer in use on any boat, it still remains a line. Once promoted to a line, it cannot be demoted back to a rope and will forever hold seniority over the other ropes.
