I recently purchaced a mozzie without a mast rotation device (the stainless rod that sticks out from the mast that attatches to the boom vang) what is it called and where do I get one

It is sometimes called a mast rotation spanner. There are many versions around and alot of them homemade.

If you are after a professional unit you might try AHPC (Australian High Performance Catamarans) in Bendigo. They have their own website. http://www.ahpc.com.au/home.htm

Someone else may have a better/different supply source.

I've heard stainless hydraulic tube (about 10mm) is the material of choice these days.
Fold it in half and hammer (or squash) it flat at the fold, and the ends, drill holes through the flat bits for a shackle in the boom end and a 1/4 inch bolt through the mast.
