Posts: 3,293 Long Beach, California | Got tired of trying to follow two threads...
Worried - big drop in wind velocity registered on buoys and C-MAN stations north and south of the checkpoint - 10-13 knots ENE - still should be enough to get them through the surf line. Looks like a go.

Posts: 5,590 Naples, FL | Sweet. I guess the breeze was just N enough to power up for the surf. Glad to hear everyone is off okay. I hate to see something like this crunch a lot of boats...

Posts: 3,293 Long Beach, California | All the phone numbers I have are busy/voice mail. At 5-after, Chuck said they were away, and I think he said that the "retired" team was going to try anyway. Wind was up and he had to hang up quickly, so I have no other details.
Where'd I put that rolaids? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Posts: 118 St. Louis, MO | .... ... . . . SO what exact DOES everyone think of the new Nacra rudder design? Looks like I'll be purchasing a pair soon! I suspect Mischa will replace them himself for you, but since you asked...the 3rd gen rudders with significantly more surface area are better in light winds for maneuvering on the line, and while the 1st gen rudders do tend to cavitate a bit quicker they also have the lightest feel at speed. So, IMO it all comes down to what you want from your rudders. I am running 2nd gen rudders just because they seem to be a good comprimise between the two extremes.
