Posts: 744 | Hey all you folks on the fence,
Get your trailer bearings greased up and come join the fun! Date is 28-31 July in Caseville, MI. Once the race begins, don't be sitting on your computer wishing you had driven to the event. Come over and join the fun! Just DO IT! If you decide to come early, I'll be there Wednesday morning before the event and sailing everyday leading up to the 28th! Anyone want to be a tuning partner and get faster?

Posts: 2,718 St Petersburg FL | Ted, no if I would have meant what you typed I would have done it myself. I see your US map and raise you to my Frapper group. http://www.frappr.com/formula16classgroupI see that in FL alone there are eight Nacra 17s listed, but I have yet to see them race in any of the bigger "local" races, except for Bob the unirig master which races in the Pensacola area. Ted where you do race again? Ahh, this is a bit silly guys.
What purpose does it serve to compare the layout of the fleets this way ?
Besides not all F16's are on the Frappr map either only the ones who cared to register themselfs on it. Quite a few boats left Florida as well and about halve of the total US fleet (=between 50-60 boats) is now outside of Florida. I've lost track on a good number of them.

Posts: 1,382 Essex, UK | I think I have a chance to buy an F17. Are they good? I guess that would depend on which one of the half dozen or so variations of the N F17 it is........

Posts: 1,479 Thailand | It’s not really fair to compare single manufacture one design to a multi manufacture F class. Nacra is very capable of building an F16 in fact it may already be in the pipe line who knows...

That will most likely not be an F17 but the aussie build inter-17 which is a different boat in many respects.

If so then it will the most advanced boat they will have designed or produced to date. The Nacra A2/A3 was not designed by nacra and as far as I know the hard parts (hulls, masts, sails) are not build by them either. Personally I believe both Nacra and Hobie will have a very hard time designing and building a good F16. But this is not a shame as doing so is not easy, certainly not with all F16 builders progressing into their 3rd iteration of the basic designs. This is some headway. Of course there is only one way of proving us (me) wrong. I still remember Hobie's announcement that they would make an Hobie A-cat. Never heard of that project ever again. Wouter

Posts: 215 Ohio | Wouter, Ted,
The purpose of the map is to show fleet development and help focus the location of regattas for attendence. Certainly not silly. In regards to the FLA boats, keep in mind, driving from Pensacola to Miami is about the same as driving from Amsterdam to Milano, Itally so 8 boats spread over Florida is roughly the same as being spread over Europe. Given the travel distances in the US, it is important to understand the location of fleet boats in setting schedules and continuing to develop the fleet.

Posts: 98 | Yup, Just a little fun I believe only the F16 guys have called the the Nacra F17 a formula class boat. I believe someone else describe it as a one design formula type boat. I think latter is probably correct. Anyway the sailors can decide if the F16 or F17 is a FAD. web page ![[Linked Image]](http://www.geoff-s.net/mtp-gallery/albums/wpw-20060818/17Thur_IMG_6568_proof.jpg) | | | Re: Nacra F17 North American Championship

Posts: 3,528 Looking for a Job, I got credi... | All,
I've owned both. I had an Inter 17 with a Spi and I now have an F16.
The F16 is a true formula class.
The F17, Inter 17, Inter 17R are all derivations on the same boat. I believe Nacra decided that it would be smart marketing to call the latest evolution of the Inter 17 the F17; I believe the F17 is the same as the Inter 17R except that the F17 has 2 different size kites depending on how heavy the helm is.

Posts: 3,528 Looking for a Job, I got credi... | I am not going to get a real answer am I?? There is no F16 in this country so Formula has nothing to do with what I want. My question is about behaviour, durablity and fun. warbird What boats have you sailed before ? I'll be happy to compare and contrast the two boats, but need something else to compare against.
