Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | But seriously...it's the same poly mesh. The material is cheap but it's all the sewing and grommet installation that costs so much. If you want the UV stable thread, you're looking at about $40 just in thread too.

Posts: 5,590 Naples, FL | The tarp they use on the top of dumptrucks is the same stuff. Truck shops that do the canvas-type stuff on the tops may have good material at a reasonable price.
The stitching and grommets like Jake said will be the money...

Posts: 805 Gainesville, FL 32607 USA | IF you folks would take a look at the new A-class tramps, you will see how weight- and expense- have gone DOWN. Grommets are much rarer now, just fold and sew each edge to hold a rod or hard tube. There is less stress on the fabric, with sealed-edge holes for the lines going to fewer hard points on the hulls. This mesh fabric is really tough stuff nowadays.

It's held up great and giving it new life. It comes in a spray or liquid, but you would need to thin liquid version and brush it on cause it is intended for dripping tools to create rubber handles. The liquid goes on thicker but the spray will go on more even. | | |
