I just bought my first boat, a Hobie 14 Turbo and need to do a couple of repairs. I'm new to the sailing community and am not sure where to go to get my questions answered. 1) The jib was attacked by rats and I am thinking about trying to repair it by sewing on some patches of sailcloth. Where could I purchase some sailcloth at a reasonable price and what weight do I need? What kind of thread should I use? If someone has a jib for sale, let me know. 2) The foot strap webbing on the tramp is no good but the tramp itself is in fine condition. Where might I find some webbing and again, what kind of thread should I use to sew it with?

Repairing a jib will be of minimal cost if you send it to a loft, and it will be done better... no guess work. I just had my main for my 5.2 gone over (batten pockets repaired, some re-stitching etc) with shipping was $150. Well worth it in my book.

The tramp, go to a upholstery shop they should be able to fix you up.

Good luck,
Clayton

I got a brand new aftermarket (non-hobie) jib for $150. I don't remember if that included shipping.

I'm boatless.

sailrite.com sells all the supplies you might need, and can offer advice on your repairs.

Upholstery shop is a great idea for the tramp! Where would I find the webbing itself?

I have used old car safetybelts as footstraps and sewn them to the thamp with nylon thread. Look at other boats for where to put them
