I'm sure most of you know about Tacticat (at least because it was here were it was announced and discussed internationally the first time).

Some features have been added recently to make it worth a post:

- Match races. Sailors can use match race fields, with the standard start protocol, buoys to starboard and all these strange things.

- Penalizations require a 360. In the first versions the bad boat was stopped or slowed down, now the sailor has to decide when and how to do the spin. Match races allow to do the spin much later while fleet or team races require the 360 to be executed ASAP.

- New boat. We started with cats . Added lasers and later skiffs. Now we have added Big Boats (a la Americas Cup), mainly to be used on Match races (because it is difficult to accomodate 20 boats at the start line)

- Tactical trimming and setup for big boats, to virtually model changes on sails, geometry on the shore or changes in cunningham, outhaul, etc during the race. It is so new that we don't really know how boats have to be tuned. People is exploring the possibilities.

- Replays!. All races included in a regatta are stored and later can be retrieved by sailors to analize what went wrong . Replays are cool and allow to have interesting discussions about tactics and rules.

And many other small things.

Amando, good to see you are still working hard on this. How is the H16 sailing in España?

I played the other night and I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of new stuff going on. GOOD JOB!!!

Ill see you in the playing fields.

H16 scene is in a slow decline.

A-Cats have seen a steep increase. And F-18 seems to start growing.
No F-16, yet. And the rest of classes .... defunct.

We'll have next week the Cat National Championships, in Alicante, time to check with spanish fleet.

One curious thing is the effect of recent Americas Cup on the sailing scene and specifically cats: NONE, NIL, ZERO (or even negative!). I live and sail in Valencia and suffer the effects.

working hard on this (Tacticat)

Unfortunatedly the tech part of Tacticat is more or less solved. Now we have to deal with 'social' problems like user moderation, gross language control, newbies assistance,... much less fun.
