At ~0.07/kWh energy costs here it's hard to justify solar, and we're not quite far enough South (how's the solar incidence angle in the sunny Pacific NW?)

As soon as we see the sun, I'll let you know <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Brisbane Queensland- Australia
Here in Oz cat sailors in Victoria, Queensland and other states can't sail on many lakes because they have dried up or are at unprecedented low levels. I used to canoe down the Goulburn River fed by the snowy mountains. Its been bone dry for over a decade. My brothers mowing business in Victoria, the supposed garden State, went feet up because no one can afford to water their lawns. In Queensland the government is spending billions on pipelines to connect northern dams with those in the southeast corner which have 20% capacity, just 3 months supply.

We've had severe droughts before but nothing like the past few decades where unseasonably low rain and higher than usual temps are impacting most of the country, Coincidentally other places like far north Queensland which was devastated by Cyclone Larry had rain for over 8 months.

Just recently an environmentalist tried to paddle the length of the Murray River which crosses 4 states. He had to drag his kayak for hundreds of kilometres before he found enough water to float on.

Prices for meat, bread, fruit and vegetables are sky high with more hikes predicted.

We vote nationally tomorrow with global warming a key factor in the election campaign and a likely change to an eco-friendly kyoto recognising Labor opposition party taking power.

Whatever is happening, its not going unnoticed and is impacting our lives
