If you can't handle conducting fleet business in an open forum or with non-class members then move it to an email distribution list. But, with your current moderation practices it looks like you're saying 'If you can't think like us(moderators) then piss off'.
Hmmmm.... wonder if this will get deleted... What are you doing over here? Get back into your cage. Seriously though, deleting stuff is like, well, frustrating...cause I came all the way down here to see what all the fuss was about and now it's gone. I can only cover so much ground. But seriously, the topic of deleting threads - wouldn't it be better to cut off privileges (temporarily at first) of offending members before wiping out the historical record? I can't remember stuff well enough to have to deal with deleted stuff. This would be like the time the guy on our local catamaran usergroup started a bunch of fuzz about jet skis and catmarans...see - I don't even remember now....I booted him out of the forum but I never deleted his posts...that way everyone knows WHY he got booted and I can go back to remember that which I have forgotten if I felt so inclined. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

But if it's instead a hidden agenda masked as a repeating questions, well, that's another matter alltogether. Uh yes it does actually. Noam Chomsky states that: "If you believe in freedom of speech, you believe in freedom of speech for views you don't like. Goebbels was in favor of freedom of speech for views he liked. So was Stalin. If you're in favor of freedom of speech, that means you're in favor of freedom of speech precisely for views you despise." Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | Welcome to the club Stephen,
Lets be by gones be by gones, agreed ?
You really should take Phill up on his offer for a talk and test sail.
With respect to weights I had a new experience today.
I had to get some welding done on a class 5 landyacht I'm rebuilding and the EU importer for VWM F16's helped me out.
I saw this new daggerboard design there and I really liked the new grey colouring, goes really well with the white hulls. He then asked if I wanted to see something impressive. Sure ! I said.
So he took this high aspect daggerboard (aspect ratio of 4 and less then 1.80 kg overall weight) and clamped it to low laying workbench, then he said ;"go stand on the very tip and jump up and down". Now I'm 94 kg myself (207 lbs), that is excluding my shoes and cloths. I did but felt not secure enough to really give it a go. Then he himself showed me what I was supposed to do and I could see his 100 kg frame bounce up and down by more then 6 inches on the very tip of the board. I didn't hear any noises coming of the board, it just took this punishment in its stride.
Afterwards I held the daggerboard and it is indeed ludicrously light, straight and in one piece. I felt like I was holding a milkcarton in my hand.
He is thinking about making a test setup for potential buyers so they can do this test themselves.
I know the daggerboards can see some very high loading while sailing, but this is still a very impressive test. It would require a fully powered F16 (150 on traps) and a 2G corner to even match this loading.

As for being in the F16 forum... someone has to keep tabs on TikiPete and Timbo. Besides it's entertaining to yank Wouter's crank now and again.
