Posts: 186 Chattanooga, TN | Day one of the Classic was rained out. We had showers on and off all day with no wind. Nigel had arrived the day before with his rig and a lot of stories about the trip, something about 9 hours of travel time for a 4-5 hour normal trip. So Saturday he disappeared for a while with the motorhome to look at a new one, but returned with the same bus. Well around 4 pm the showers stopped and the rest of the boats were setup, and the r/c boats came out. There was some intense racing in the R/C fleet, but I think postion on the end of the dock might of been more important and contested then boat postion. Well Oley, Joanna and I went around studing the F18 setups and found some new ways to rig the spins that evening from Mike and David. Well that night was some good food, and some fun music. The next day was dry but started out overcast. The first race saw as lot of lead changes thanks to the lakes wonderful pockets and weird breezy. Oley and Joanna easiy walked away on the last 2 legs and took the gun. The next race had to move to a totally different part of the lake as the wind changed almost 100 degrees. The wind picked up over the next 3 races and a lot of the winning was being at the right place for some strange lift. Was actually some double trapping conditions. I am not sure the actually finishes of the last few races but the F16s for the most part were near or ahead of many of the f18s. I think that upwind we were real close to even with them, but downwind we might lose a little as both of us are still finding how much to push the boat in a breeze with the spin. Well the final results came out with Oley and joanna 1st, Nigel 2nd and me third. So I think we did ok. Was a fun weekend. Hope to see everyone and more at Tommy Whiteside.

So the water is always warm. The people there are great hosts and have been doing the regatta for 25 yrs now. Funny thing is there is never a NOR-they just set a date, it is posted on EMSA-sailing.org and everyone shows up and has a great time. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Sounds like a nice stop along the way. So how about some more details. Sounds like you folks put on a little bit of a clinic. I'm thinking you stayed on your feet more?

Posts: 396 Annapolis Md. | Man. I should have been paying attention, I was in SC visiting family last weekend. Oh well. Looks like Team Too Sharp is totally focused on taking the cup. Thanks for the report. Hey Jody, I heard that Nigel wants to swap the bus for your Honda. NOT!
When is the Tommy Whiteside?

Posts: 186 Chattanooga, TN | It was a fun weekend and the best part is now I am saving money on electricty since I glow in the dark now. As for trading the honda for the RV, I think not, the drives to these events are long enough, forget the extra time spent on the side of the road, but maybe that is time I could spend working on the boat. But if nigel gives me the bus filled with gas that might be worth more then my honda. but think the honda would struggle going up the hills with the trailer. We need to all gang up and figure out a way to slow Oley and Joanna down, they are messing up the rating. Soon we will be giving the f18s time.

Posts: 72 Florida, USA | Hartsville was my very last regatta in Div. 9 before I moved to Div. 7. It snowed. We could'nt even see the marks because of the blowing snow. Great party on Saturday and I don't remember much else (due to the party). Fun place to go, but we got in trouble for throwing the blow-up ewe around. Not kid appropriate.
