BEWARE!

527 and 528 and quite possibly all Stealth prior to around 540 will not have the acetyl inserts built in.

On my boat the solution was these:

[Linked Image]

They are plastic plasterboard (wallboard) inserts and I have epoxied them into the deck area. The straps are then simply screwed in using S/S 3mm self tappers.

Great foot strap information! I'll figure a way to add backing, even if I have to fish it in from the drain holes!

One way I am considering is to drill a hole, use an alan wrench to rout out the foam, and fill that with expoxied filler. Then use a plastic drywall toggle bolt that will span a portion of this filled area. Glenn Brown suggested this.

I guess that I could take a piece of backing that would be longer than the footstrap and narrower than the drain holes and pull it into position with strings. I could pre coat it with a bead of glue and tension the strings as a glue clamp. I could drill and tap holes, even before fishing it into position.

Here is a list of owners of Stealths that I have seen on Catsailor Forum:

John,

I hear that Bala was "fun". Should see you at Rutland in a few weeks time.
