I'm looking for a Sol Cat 18 (White Sails #1210, tangerine hulls) I owned it from 1974-1986. Did some Handicap racing in Manhasset Bay, and Class racing down in Barneget Bay, NJ. When not racing, I would sail out of Northport. Now I'm sailing out of South Florida and was wondering what ever happened to my first Cat. If by chance anyone has any info, let me know...Thanks

Did you sell it to someone before you went south? Was it stolen?

In 1986 I sold the Sol Cat due to an injury, didn't think I'd be sailing a Cat again, but now I am. I was down in Ft. Lauderdale at a used parts place and noticed a front cross member from a Sol Cat. Started to make me wonder if my old boat survived, or is in a bone yard someplace.

I think that is really sweet that you loved your boat enough to be looking for it again. It has always made me happy to know that the Shark catamaran that my father bought back in the early 1960's is still sailing and in good hands. It has been all around the country and is now back in the East. That is the nice thing about a class where the boat's number stays with it and the class association keeps track of the boats and who owns them and where they are.

If somebody was going to take "Mary Bet" (#50) to a landfill, I would want to know, so I could rescue it. OR, I would NOT want to know.
