Last night I received and email asking for help with a local event to get new people involved with our sport and thought I'd pass the request on to people in the New England area who might be interested. Rick is looking for any multihull boats who can take out people for a ride. As it stands now there will be everything from a Hobie Getaway to an F-31 and everything in between, just not enough.
2008 Schedule Subject: [Hobie-D12] BSSC - Catamaran Sailing - This Sat June 7th
This coming Saturday we have the BSSC - Learn to Sail in New Bedford, MA.
This involves taking new people out sailing on a catamaran.
We have 25 enthusiasts signed up through the BSSC to come down to this
event. That's a lot of people to keep happy. We can not do it adequately
with the low number of boats we have signed up. We need everyone to get up
off their butts and come down with their boats to help out. Most of the
Hobies and some Nacras that were initially coming have had to beg off for
various reasons. We need to replace them with other Hobies, Nacras and
various catamarans/trimaran s. This event is being run for the benefit of
the multihull community. Future crews, some new racers, new club members,
new friends. Solicit members for your club.
There is a tremendous renewed interest in our sport. The BSSC has started a
waiting list for the many extra people wanting to try multihull sailing.
Please email or call me if you are on the list and are not coming or if you
aren't on the list and you are coming. We need to plan for food and drinks.
The weather is supposed to be really hot on Sat. Hopefully the Buzzard
breeze will kick in. We plan to start sailing around 10:00am. out of Ft
Rodman State Park (Low Tide Yacht Club). Hot dogs and hamburgers supplied.
