I recently purchased cat traxs for moving my NACRA into and out of the water. The cat traxs do not have cups but just the standard rollers. I was having problems moving the boat with one crew mate and myself. Is there a specific technique We should use for moving the boat?

Thanks Matt

the only advice I have is to make sure that the wheels are directly under the shrouds and are tied firmly to same to keep them in place. In the future, replace the rollers with cradles, you will be much happier.

Cradles are a must for nacras. the balance point is a little forward of the shrouds on a 5.8 and a 6.0 about midway between the front crossbar and the shrouds, I am not sure about the other nacras. If you are using cat trax with just rollers I think after a period of time you may damage the bottom of the hulls.

Balancing the boat exactly on the axle is key. My hobie 18 it was directly under the shrouds. on some boats (my mystere 5.5) the best spot for the wheels is actually between the front beam and the shroud.

if you have lots of water in your hulls... this doesn’t help.

make sure you have either lowered your sails.. or the wind direction is helping you.

one person on each front hull pulling on the bows/bridal and get up some speed to climb up any little hills/beach.

yeah, you do need cradles on the cat-trax for a nacra. The trax without cradles were meant for boats with a deep "v" shaped hull...like Hobie 16s. However, you probably will be OK if you put a lot of padding on the trax (several wraps of carpet).

Is the problem the way the boat sits on the wheels or do the wheels seem like they are binding and not rolling easy? Are they new or used?
