Hi, Attached are the results of the Southold Yacht Club's 21st Annual Catamaran Race Around Shelter Island. This race is run in conjunction with the 38th annual "longest sunfish race in the world". There are many tales to tell from this race. For starters, Greg Gove and Robin Epperson on Greg's brand new Blade Formula 16 hit a rock in Sag Harbor, destroying one hull and daggerboard, and had to drop out after leading the group all day. Others missed the entrance to Cedar Point and took a detour to East Hampton, adding more miles to the already 22 mile circumnavigation. The wind and weather were absolutely perfect. Eight catamarans showed up for this event. The first boat finished in 2 hours 40 minutes in an 8 to 10 knot Southerly. Special thanks to Ken Richter, who is responsible for this race for all 21 years! He was unable to race due to recent surgery. We hope to see Ken out on his cat soon!
