Posts: 170 Australia (Queensland) | I have just updated the Taipan Catamaran Association of Austraila website Calendar to include the first F16 Championships in Australia. These will be the New South Wales F16 championships. New South Wales is one of Australia's States - Sydney is the capital of NSW. The Kurnell Catamaran Club will host the championships on the 22nd and 23rd of February this year. KCC website http://www.kcc.asn.auThis is excellent news for the F16 class. Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | guys,
The event is officially the NSW state titles, but it must be regarded as the inaugural event for the F16 class in Australia just like the Spring Fever 2002 event in the USA.
And 5 weeks should be enough to get to Kurnell, most of us didn't have that much more time to get down to Spring Fever last year.
The event is an official F16 event as much as the Springfever and US F16 nationals and are called by the Australian F16 class. And the NL class will shortly call her own inaugural class event.
For any specific questions I refer to Phillip Brander.
And stewart don't worry mate, you may get the Worlds nearby you (rottnest) in 2004. You'll definately be sailing then.

Posts: 539 | Best then to get yourself to the Kurnell regatta in February. If you need a hand to set up the boat for a kite feel free to contact me on colejam@cba.com.auMeans that you won't have to go through the same trial and error process that I went through, plus we can give you a few ideas of how to approach it all. I am located in Sydney as well. Cheers JC | | | Re: my error

Posts: 15 sydney, Aust. | Hi Stewart,
Although there was no vote, general meeting, we were not trying to dupe any one out of a titles (I don't think you were implying that either)
Basically, we thogught it would be a great idea to put on a championship, and approached Phil about it, as it happened Phill also had very simlar ideas. We had a regatta at about the right time, and also the largest fleet of F16 at hand.

Posts: 1,449 | Stewart, It's been 25 years (almost to the day) since I was at Rottnest. Back then it was the closest thing to paradise that I could imagine. (Admittedly we all have our own picture of paradise.) Always planned on bringing my cat ( a Mosquito at the time) back and taking a run to it from the mainland.
Now wouldn't that be a top race.
Around Rottnest one arvo with the Fremantle Doctor blowin'.
Riding those huge swells back to the mainland with a kite up would be a blast. (Hell, I even enjoyed it back then on the Ferrie.) Only conn that I could think of, apart from getting people there, would be a sailing club to run the races. Well, memories are not always true and that was a long time ago. Interested in hearing the bad side. Email me privately with the conns, if you wouldn't mind, when you're back online.
Regards, Phill
I know that the voices in my head aint real, but they have some pretty good ideas. There is no such thing as a quick fix and I've never had free lunch!
