And so the last race of the year has happened. And what a kick. We had fantastic conditions: relatively (it remains the North Sea) flat water, not too cold (15°C) and a steady breeze (force 4 to force 5). We got 4 races in, each race had 2 laps; upwind mark, spreader mark and than around a downwind mark (no gate).
We were in top condition, everything went very smoothly, no problems, no capsizes, no “I am being slow today”. Our main competitors were 2 Infusions, a Nacra F18 and a Hobie Tiger. First race we finished 3rd, just after the 2 Infusions. But we immediately heard the first team got an OCS, meaning we were second. This felt good and we wanted to perform even better in the next races. And so we did: we got a 1st place in the next race and the other 2 races we kept our 2nd place, with little difference in finishing time to the 1st place. Being first really gave me an adrenaline kick and I forgot all the pain and bruises :-D
A complete write up can be found at our blog. The results are attached. We were scored the wrong rating (the F18 rating) but it doesn’t affect the results.
We had a nice party afterwards, photo’s can be found on the
blog also.
So when was the last time you guys had an adrenaline rush? ;-)
