Posts: 921 Alachua, FL | Looks like fun.
Is there a minimum LOA? I don't think so...how small?

Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | There have been plenty of Hobie 16's in this race in the past. The important thing here is the sailor's experience level. This is not necessarily a race for the inexperienced - it CAN get pretty crazy and the navigation is really complex (on day 2).

Posts: 6,049 Sebring, Florida. | And I thought I read a few years ago that you must have two on the boat, i.e. you cannot sail your Prindle 16 solo, Mary, is that correct?
That is for your safety, in case you fall off the boat. I think a crew did spend a night clinging to a sea buoy a few years back, unless that was a different distance race.

Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | I agree and Rick and Mary have made it clear that this is not a race for single handed boats. It just isn't safe to sail single handed in some of these remote areas. One trap line failure and you're potentially swimming for a looooooong time.

I'm not local and when I tried to check out the route. I couldn't find an online chart. Mapquest didn't recognize the NOR text cues after Angelfish Creek. Any help? http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/AtlanticCoastViewerTable.shtmlLook up these charts: 11464, 11463, 11449. Chart 11463 shows Angelfish Creek. Since you will be on a slower boat, you will be able to let the leaders show the way. I ordered these waterproof charts from Maptech. E-mail: [email protected] Phone: (888) 839-5551 9: Florida: Upper Keys--Miami to Upper Matecumbe, Ed. Qty. 1 X $19.95 Item Total = $19.95 WPC010 10: Florida: Middle Keys--Tavernier to Sugarloaf Ke,y Ed. Qty. 1 X $19.95 Item Total = $19.95 Shipping (Ground) $13.91 Order Total $53.81
