Is there a minimum LOA?

I don't think so...how small?

If there isn't a minimum, there should be. It's more like a minimum of speed potential.
AND, you have to be an experienced racing sailor, preferably experienced DISTANCE racing sailor, to participate.

I have experience racing: Penguin, Thistle, Tornado, Aquacat, Catalina 27, Stiletto, and Prindle 16. Current boat and the object of my inquiry is a Prindle 16. Too slow?

There have been plenty of Hobie 16's in this race in the past. The important thing here is the sailor's experience level. This is not necessarily a race for the inexperienced - it CAN get pretty crazy and the navigation is really complex (on day 2).

And I thought I read a few years ago that you must have two on the boat, i.e. you cannot sail your Prindle 16 solo, Mary, is that correct?

That is for your safety, in case you fall off the boat. I think a crew did spend a night clinging to a sea buoy a few years back, unless that was a different distance race.

I agree and Rick and Mary have made it clear that this is not a race for single handed boats. It just isn't safe to sail single handed in some of these remote areas. One trap line failure and you're potentially swimming for a looooooong time.

Hummm... OK - I have crew and I have done plenty of (successful) DR navigation in fog and at night - coastal and open ocean.

I'm not local and when I tried to check out the route. I couldn't find an online chart. Mapquest didn't recognize the NOR text cues after Angelfish Creek. Any help?

http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/AtlanticCoastViewerTable.shtml

Look up these charts: 11464, 11463, 11449.

Chart 11463 shows Angelfish Creek.

Since you will be on a slower boat, you will be able to let the leaders show the way.

I ordered these waterproof charts from Maptech.
