Posts: 201 Adelaide, South Australia | Hi Wouter and Pete, it's not just the F18 crews. There are sailors that yell and those that don't in every class. People handle stress differently and yes, some are a**holes. Try to stay away from them on the course. Good incentive to get out front and don't let it spoil your racing. We really like racing against the F-18 guys/gals. Cheers! - G You should see the Australian Lightweight Sharpie fleets here in South Australia. A very vocal bunch. Interesting thing is the ones making the most noise are nowhere near the front of the fleet! When one tried to lee-bow me on the weekend I just had to laugh as I drove over the top of him and gassed him all the way to the windward buoy If he ducked behind me he would of been much better off.

So you piss all over us becouse we dont do what you want us to do, so it is our own fault if we stink and enter the party in a wet suit. Not much room for anything else than what macca wants here in the world, is there.

Honestly, why do you care so much about our class rules? If they don't work the class will fail and you will be proved right.

Posts: 3,528 Looking for a Job, I got credi... | So you have shown apparantly that you can build a boat to min weight without the use of carbon, so why allow carbon?
One simple reason is that it allows home fabrication of parts. I know of one person who may build beams as it will be cheaper to build them out of carbon than source Alu beam sections.

Just because you may not need something why does that give cause to not allow it, surely that would then restrict builders unnecessarily? | | | Re: uni v sloop- round two

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | It is impossible to build a beam from carbon cheaper than an alloy section.
It is if a certain section is not stocked and you have to order a whole batch of at least 250 kg to even be allowed to order. This doesn't happen in Aus or NL I admit but it did happen in Finland for example. Allowing these homebuilder to make carbon tube is actually one of the stronger points of the F16 rule set. Wouter
