quick Q, what should be the distance between the axle and the tow attachment on a trailer for a 17foot cat
longer explanation, my nacra 5.2 came without a trailer, not much of a prob as i can leave it mast up on the beach/lake where i sail
but for winter i've got to bring it down from the mountains and out of the high snow zone
i made some cradles up for an old trailer i was given but it seems too short and unstable as it only has a single pole to the towbar. if i replace it with 2 lengths of square section steel what length should i be looking for from axle to back of car?
I have a fairly long trailer. The axle center is 15'-3" back from the edge of the tounge. Add another 4" probably for the hitch coupler. I slid it forward another 10" from whats on the drawing here.
* 110 cms to get to the wheel axle * Another 80 cms to the front support * And then yet another 235cms to the trailer tongue
[Note: On the first pic, that's the front beam on the hull supports, I removed it for the second pic. The finished hull is currently propped on the box, when assembled the boat is a little further back then where it is right now]
