Posts: 160 North Carolina | Just tell me when and I will be there. As long as in isn't the 11th (Sunday). I've got to go and be an abbman at the Allman Brothers concert. Let me know if I can help out in anyway. I've got a cousin with a motor boat that might be willing to show up to the lake and help out on the course.
Let's do it!!

Posts: 235 | I'm thinking something like Trey's sweet 16 regatta. Maybe a one day deal with a cookout or something. I will be bringing my boat back from the coast next weekend so something in October would be great. I have a motorboat that could be a chase boat and could make some cheesy marks for a course. I'm in if others are interested, I also have an FX1 skipper locally that would like to play. What do you guys think? Gotten skunked several times at Jordan this summer. Isn't Kerr somewhat more consistent for winds? Just asking. One distance race from Henderson Point to Buoy 1 or A up by the dam or something like. Back for lunch. Then an afternoon of racing? Again, just asking. KerrJordan

Posts: 807 Hillsborough, NC USA | Eric, Can we Hobie sailors attend all of these events or just some? Are you sure the Isotopes want spin boats on course with them? ... And where are all these events listed, I only visit here, hobiecat.com and emsa.org. Carolina Sailing Club (CSC) holds regular racing events on Kerr Lake and Jordan Lake. CSC runs an annual invitational regatta in June called the Governor's Cup. This year, we had a few I20s but it would be great to get other boats (spin or no) involved. Regular club racing is intended for club members, but CSC invites guests to race for one weekend without joining. If several catamarans showed up Oct 17-18 to race as my guests, I believe the club and the Isotope fleet would welcome them. For a complete listing of CSC events, see http://www.carolinasailingclub.orgRegards, Eric

Posts: 807 Hillsborough, NC USA | Or, since you're in Graham, consider sailing at Lake Townsend (north of Greensboro) with me on the 10th-11th. LTYC is a very welcoming club on a relatively small lake. We need all the cats we can get and I would be happy for you to sail as my guest. For club details, see http://www.laketownsendyachtclub.com. Posts: 26 NC | Of the three beaches, Jordan is the nicest. Sailing Venue, I much prefer Kerr Lake. Club wise, Lake Townsend is my first love.
The beach at Kerr lake is a bit rocky. If we got more cats launching at Henderson Pt, Kerr Lake, I might get the parks to put sand down. With the low water levels at lake townsend, the "beach" is quite nice. Usually, we use carpets at Kerr and Townsend, but the past couple of months, we didn't bother with carpet at Townsend.
As the Commodore at Lake Townsend, absolutely, come sail with us Oct 10, 11. The club provides beer and food at the Saturday social following racing. As the Isotope Fleet Captain and CSC Past Commodore, by all means, join us at Kerr Lake Oct 17, 18.
And if you want to sail an Isotope either of the weekends, let me know as my boat will be at both events, but I will not. Alas, work has me out of town the Lake Townsend weekend, and the CSC weekend I will be at the Advanced Race Mgmt Seminar in Charleston. Eric will be at both club racing events, and he travels with both his and my boat!!! | | | Re: How about an informal race/sail in NC on Jordan this fall?

Posts: 807 Hillsborough, NC USA | The beach at Kerr lake is a bit rocky. ... Usually, we use carpets at Kerr and Townsend, but the past couple of months, we didn't bother with carpet at Townsend. This past weekend, Kerr Lake was down quite a bit. Our usual beach was a bit slimy with exposed water plants, so we launched from the other side of the peninsula instead. It was nice and sandy with only a bit of mud. I didn't use the carpets I brought. The wind was pretty good on Saturday - enough for some of us to trap out at times and we got in three races. Sunday was a bit lighter, with a persistent shift in one race, and variable wind in the other. All in all, it was typical lake sailing and the races were won by those who read the wind right. October usually brings more wind at Kerr Lake, so I'm looking forward to next month's racing. One of the Isotope sailors is hosting an "Isotope social" at his house on the lake, and has invited any other cats to join us. We'll either motor across the lake, or drive to his house (which takes longer); have dinner there; and sleep over. He's out of bed space, but if you want to bring a sleeping bag and sleep on the floor, you're welcome. It should be fun. Posts: 171 Cary, NC | Any other cats locally that are interested? If anyone has a catamarancrazy account (yahoo) post up the event there, would be really cool to have a big catamaran showing at Jordan on the 3rd and 4th!
