For anyone who thought my fall on to the beach during the Tybee (see avatar)was nasty check out the Red Bull capsize vid on Oman Sail's Facebook page. Scroll down to videos. Watch the skipper, that had to leave a mark.

Ouch, the guy falls from the top hull to the bottom one... that had to hurt!

Worse one I ever had was I left the plugs out on 14 Turbo. Went back to try to put them in and did a slow roll over backwards. It went turtle and I had to take to side stay off while underwater. REAL PITA.....I go a lot of ribbing as we had to tow in in that way and it took 8 of us to flip in to drain.

it did leave a mark.... but we only found it when we were putting the boat in the container.

Roman had a few marks on him though!

Probably the worst part was the the way he landed I'm sure he got the wind solidly knocked out of him, then he slid into the water. That would not be a pleasant experience at all.

I'm really surprised he didn't have any major injuries. That's a 20 foot fall.

one tough hombre
OSHA tells us fall protection must be provided at four feet in general industry, five feet in maritime and six feet in construction.
Could have been fatal.

Maybe impact vests or flak jackets would be more in order.
The skipper is swimming for the boat right after the fall, so I guess he wasn't hurt too bad.

Kinda looked like he landed pretty flat on that lower hull, which would spread the force of the fall over a bit more area than say, his head/shoulder area or his hip... Still, to have avoided major injury after what amounts to a 2 story drop is pretty unique

Wow now you can tell that is Extreme Sailing and not America's Cup they are actually sailing, in wind!

Looked like he landed on one foot for a split second first, can't believe he didn't at least sprain or break his ankle.
