Forgive me for being impatient but I really would like to know. Jennifer has reveiled that the winner weights 315 lbs combined and that she at 245 lbs is not the winning team. This little bit of info made me hungry for more.

And of course the winning team has the responsibility of given us a regatta report as the others in the past have done. Our little tradition and payback for "stealing" the award away from the other teams !

Robbie Daniel and Keith Notary won the Taipan 4.9 Nationals but Robbie may be too busy to write it up. I saw his Tornado as well as a Canadian Tornado set up on the Dunedin Causeway so he is probably back in pre-Olyimpic training mode. He's one busy sailor.

It is sad to see the Taipan 4.9 and the F16HP (even more so) suffer such poor turnouts. The 2002 f16hp champs had 4 boats and now the 2003 Taipan champs only 4 boats. Does anyone have an explanation?

You may say that 4 boats is a poor turn out for a national championship but if you look at the number of Taipan 4.9's actively racing in the United States, that's 33% of the fleet which seems pretty good to me. We would of had 5 boats had the skipper of the fifth boat not been injured the week before the event thus preventing him from competing. We didn't get more boats because the travel distance is just too great. The few boats that are in the United States are just too scattered across the country to expect larger turnouts.

The Taipan 4.9 fleet in Florida is growing. A new boat was recently purchased and the owner will be taking delivery next month. There have been rumors that other people are thinking about purchasing a Taipan 4.9.

The US Taipan 4.9 /F16HP fleet is growing slowly and it just requires a little patients.

49-er ; we have been done this road before and you know perfectly well what I'm going to do when you presist at what you do now.

We all know that you have never anything good to say about any other class but the one you are linked with. You even go as far as making claims with respect to your own class that are ludicrously beyond reality. Well we have seen that; To name but a few geat strides : no nationals for your class this year, inflated numbers at events where halve the fleet just sits on the beach, more boats for sale than sailing and a good number of these adds are open for months , problems with "rough patches of water", A killing review by not one but two crews (one American; one UK), great nothing were there was once a much hyped event, Than we had a sinking ship despite flotation being present and than we had a formerly respected but now vamped challenge which draw as good as NO challengers apart from some sailors from the area near the factory of the suplied boats and the defenders, well, only one crew there of any international standing. The masses of Tornado sailors didn't even show up despite glorious predictions.

But when the F16 class is growing steadily, has NO second hand offers open for longer than 4-5 weeks, is seen sailing at events more often than your "great strides class" and actually goes places internationally (we had no less than 35 crews, some 55 sailors, in our latest rule vote), and our numbers in the US alone are more than the much heralded "3 packed containers" ; Similar numbers in South Asia and Australia. So go figure who leads at this time. Personally I don't care if you are going to give them away; After years of your special attention and various actions we're still here and doing well and we don't have to piss off all sorts of builders and sailors. Furthermore, your behaviour, and that of your buddies, of roughing up other classes when things go south in your own class is well known and well documented. Many have become to see for what you really are especially since that other great event of doing 500 miles of sailing along the Florida coastline. Man, what you guys didn't do to safe faces; I never seen so many Texel rating lovers in one place. So why don't you just take a long walk on a short pier and leave the peace between our persona continue.

You'll recognise a clear trend in his posting. Nothing is good enough except a certain high performance 18 footer "which makes great strides".

And putting down others and other classes is the prefered approach.

Although I have never met the man, I have been assured as fact that 49-er is WF Oliver. Notice all of his favorible comments on the F18 class, WF's baby.

If I am wrong he can let us know. I mean no harm by this note but anonymous writers should stay on the nasty old forum. Mr. 49-er, please step out from behind the curtain.

I think you mean the F18HT class or 18HT class as it is now called.

Both as a class and personnally we have good relations with those involved with the F18 class all over the world. Thankfully so because in time we may start cooperating more closely with them. Ideas have been coined that call for the formula classes to come together and work together closely in the area's of measurements and regatta's. I see much propect in a setup like this.

Hi Jennifer, sounds like the solution to your problem is to all move closer to eachother ! Just choose a favourable location that everyone agrees on and get all the Taipan owners to relocate there. It can`t be that difficult !
