2018 F16 Catamaran Worlds Melbourne Australia Bid, from Facebook posts.
F16 World's AGM the decision for the next F16 World's in two years, Is looking at maybe going to a ballot, please take into consideration.
Places like Oman and Martinique have been proposed but NO official bid was put in!!! Only Australia's official bid was tabled! (RBYC Melbourne)
IF a ballot is to decide please take into consideration. That out of the three places Australia has an active fleet of F16 including Viper /Taipan etc a fleet of well more than 50 would be expected the biggest yet anywhere for a World's vs going somewhere that would see a small fleet of maybe 20. Supporting the class around the world where there are fleets is more important than going somewhere remote that doesn't have a current fleet. Anyway Australia is where the F16 was born 😀 maybe look at these other places beyond 2018 would be a prudent and smarter move. Let's not get ahead of ourselves the class needs to grow smartly to see levels of participation like the F18!
Conversation from post. Peter Dunk said, Mosquito's will also been keen to participate adding to fleet sizes.
Gavin Rietman said, Yep, all original F16's will be invited, Taipans,& Mossies. Racing in one fleet for overall but we will have a grandfather division and take results from racing and award prizes for these guys as separate world champion
This will be the biggest F16 worlds with a possible 60+ boats. Hopefully we get the gig
Gary Maskiell said, Thanks for letting us know of the plan for a grandfather division, Mossies regularly get around 10 spinnaker boats at Nats and with the timing of the bid for the 2018 F16 worlds, which is well after Mossie Nats at Lake Cootharbra QLD. I am sure most would like to get involved in a Worlds.
Peter Dunk said, Gary Maskiell I've been chatting with Simon Dubbin about the mosquito entry and will let you all know once I have more info.
