Very interesting, square top main, spi. I guess most of us will start w/ H 14's. I've seen some realy crazy boats put together on this platform. What kind of rules are we talking about.

I plan on using a Wave, despite it being pretty heavy in relation to others. But, it will be fun trying.

At present, my mainsail is 99' and the Hooter is 88' and goes to the aft beam. With this configuration I am sailing just a bit slower than a Hobie 16 in winds up to 12mph and without a trapeze.

With the max sail area of 160 feet I think I can just make the Hooter more high aspect and sheet from the main beam. Might loose a bit, but maybe not. I have come to believe the leading edge of the sail does more than lots of sail.

So, don't laugh at me when I show up with a Wave.

You could also extend the mast on that Wave a bit if desired, to get more "leading edge" sail area. I think the Wave mast is only 20'?

If you're not overpowered on a narrow Wave with a big Hooter and no trapeze, but have 187sq.ft. of sail and are keeping pace with H16s, then why would the class go with less sail area? I was thinking perhaps a 200 sq.ft. max sail area, using a 24' mast with a square-top mainsail and sending the rest of the sail area into a roller-furling jib stuck out on a pole.
