Posts: 69 San Francisco | I have this listing of running rigging lengths, many of which are contrary to some of my existing lines (i.e. mainsheet).
Any opinions and/or additions out there?
Main Halyard - 28' 3/16" Jib Halyard - 23' 3/16" Jib Sheet - 40' 5/16" continuous Main Sheet/Traveler - 42' 3/8" continuous Mast Rotator - 3' 1/4" Outhaul - 10' 1/4" Downhaul - 8' 1/4"
Thanks

Posts: 364 | Double the main halyard length; that sounds about like the mast height on a 5.2, you need twice the mast length "plus a little" to actually hoist the sail. Same for the jib halyard. Can't tell for the mainsheet; the purchase of your block system makes a difference. good luck.

Posts: 606 Maryland | The main halyard length may seem short because it is half wire, half line. Perhaps the measurement is only for the line section.

Posts: 69 San Francisco | Yeah, I should have been clearer on my original post. I meant just the line portion.
Also the smaller measurements i.e. 3/8, 5/16 are for the line diameter.

Posts: 1,253 Columbia South Carolina, USA | If youre going to play the downhaul from the wire(which you should) your downhaul needs to be much longer. Id say 20ft, maybe longer. David

Posts: 69 San Francisco | David, Can you describe how that's rigged? Cleat and block placement etc...
Thanks

Hold the tiller and mainsheet (traveller line is tied to end of mainsheet), one in each hand. When you want to adjust downhaul, hold mainsheet with finger from tiller hand and make the adjustment. Then drop the downhaul and pick up the mainsheet again.
