I've heard of people using a penny or a plastic bottle cap.

Right now I'm using a circle I cut from the lid of a jar of JIF. (Peanut butter.) However, my friend drinks a lot of Gatorade and I've noticed the caps seem to be about the right size so next time I'll try that.

Warm regards, Jim

Hollow practic golf balls cut apart... these are shaped like they belong in the mast base... 24 1/2 cups cost $2

I won't use the hobie standard teflon chips anymore. They allways come out distorted and mangled. The hobie catalog even recommends using a delrin bearing in place of the chips, But at $4.80 a pop. I think I will be going back to the practice golf balls and even adding a little grease. I hope my boat will still be race legal.
