I've been looking into painting the 4" x 2' areas of my epoxy over polyester fiberglass repair. 2-part polyurethanes are $50/qt and would not be color matched, i.e. I'd buy white and have to darken it myself, somehow. Dropped by an autopaint store, $35 for a pint or quart for acrylic enamel.

Then I ran across this website: www.epoxyproducts.com It has a huge amount of information about epoxy and polyurethanes. So I thought I'd share it. Still haven't found how to color match with a polyurethane, though. Would an epoxy pigment work?

Cheers,
Danno

Danno,
Lots of people paint boats with acrylic polyurethanes. It's not as hard or abrasion resistant as linear polyurethanes (awlgrip or interthane plus). You can tint with pigment compatible with epoxies. May be worth checking into awlgrip stock colors. They make about 10 versions of off white. It is very expensive but you can get it mail order at a discount.

Thanks, Kevin.

I'll check into it when I need to paint the whole boat.
