Hello to all,

Let me get this correct;

1. One can get 90 degree sections, yes?
2. One can get striaght pieces of the same material, yes?
3. One can get a sleeve from Performance for a Inter beam, yes?
...can one use sleeves and rivits(bolts?) instead of welds?

I have broken welds before on a magnum wing, also on a harness and a trapese dogbone,.......but I have never sheared off a bolt.

Thanks again for the help, folks :-)

Just got off the phone with Performance Cat. Their wings for the nacra 450 would fit on top of the beam, not inside. They bolt attaching brackets to the beam, which attach to the tubing. Tubing is double sleeved. Price around $1000.

All this concern about bending or welding round aluminum tubing makes me wonder if using straight pieces with bolts would be simpler. Could even use angle or channel material, maybe even stainless instead of aluminum.

So I've attached a drawing of what this might look like.

Cheers,
Danno

I hear tale of an open Worrell boat that had wings that were supported by cables from the mast such that when one would go down (if the sailors sat on it) the other would raise up to 90 degrees or so.

G-Cat 21. Contact Dave Mosely for more information as his had them.
