Posts: 324 South Florida | Whoaa! what a week!! Went down to the Key's for the week and got some awsome sailing in. Got a good amount of practice at balancing the cat on one hull (without capsizing a single time!) although we came damn close. At one time I was OVER! I had released the mainsheet and had actually let go of it in hopes to save from the capsize and then, somehow, my traveler cleat (that has been giving me trouble) let go on its own and back down we came. I could have sworn the mast almost hit the water! but we came back! It was a real blast.
The new sails worked great, and I'm ready now for the race on the 30th. Also, when are we having that fun day. I'm ready to kick some distance hull flyin' BUTT!!!!!

Posts: 324 South Florida | We stayed at the Coconut Palm Inn on the bay side (Tavernier Key). They have a tiny little beach there where they let me leave the catamaran when we stay there. It is soooo convenient. I usually got up in the morning, hoisted the sail and left it up for the whole day. So we went sailing as many times as we wanted during the day. The wind is ALWAYS blowing is the same direction there so I could have almost left the sails up for the entire week!
We had a great time.
We also chartered a Corsair 31 that took us out to the Molasses Reef for some snorkeling. That one sailed out of Key Largo. Nice boat. I'd love to get my hands on one of those.
We always recommend the Coconut Palm Inn to everyone. It is a nice quiet place. Very relaxing, and very convenient for us.

Posts: 324 South Florida | Everybody loaths jet ski's (except for jet skiers of course). I don't think they would allow jet ski's here. The place is very quiet and relaxed. A sailboat is a pretty sight, and adds to the local color, but noisy jet ski's (and their accompanying gas jugs and paraphenalea) do not.
