Unregistered | Statistically, Corpus is one of the windiest areas in the country and April is the windiest month, so be prepared for a blow! Have fun! | | | Re: Corpus coastals #5600 03/21/02 01:08 PM 03/21/02 01:08 PM | Anonymous OP

Unregistered | David, I liked most of what I saw here so,I regestered.
Yup, I know it will be windy when I arrive. Are you in that area?
It will be a bit before I'm ready to sail,I'm going there to find the cat I want.
Thanks for your reply.Jay | | | Re: Corpus coastals #5601 03/21/02 02:49 PM 03/21/02 02:49 PM | Anonymous OP

Unregistered | Good- Glad you registered. I live outside Dallas but have sailed there some. While Corpus may seem rather uninteresting, it is legendary among sailors and windsurfers for the wind. What type of cat will you be looking for? DCS

Unregistered | D, I would like to find an 18'cat,used. I'm retired and since I'm on a bit of a budget, Maybe something needing some repairs. People sometimes 'poo-poo' on the idea but, I KNOW there is one in CC just like what I want. Bottom line, I'm on a mission and, I will prevale.
Anyhoo, Good to talk to you , More later, Jay | | | Re: Corpus coastals #5603 03/21/02 05:50 PM 03/21/02 05:50 PM | Anonymous OP

I'm in Little Rock and you missed my sweet 18 sq I sold to a guy in Austin last year- Would be a great CC boat. My parents used to keep their cabin cruiser in Ingelside when I was growing up in SA.

Unregistered | Wandercat -I live in Rowlett TX and sail cats mostly at Lake Lavon and mono slug on Ray Hubbard. If you get a chance, you might look around for a cat outside Corpus. The US military has studied corrosion extensively and the conditions in Corpus are as bad as it gets. The warm wind driven saltly air is really hard on metal. There have been studies suggesting that just 10 miles inland is far better. The navy is slowly moving their air bases inland. If you do look at boats down there, look at the metal carefully to be sure you are buying a boat and not a battery! I wish I could find a job down there, I'd be right behind you!
On an unrelated note, I think all the F18 and F18HT conversations are happening on their own bulletin boards. This board is remarkably flat. | | | Re: Corpus coastals #5606 03/22/02 05:58 PM 03/22/02 05:58 PM | Anonymous OP

Unregistered | Kirt, sounds like someone got a good one. As far as what I want, That's why I'm going to boat country. I'm going to look at different ones and find what suits me. As far as price, I'm a hunter and I'll find that one great deal...always do.
D-Yah boy, I know about the metal thing and I do plan a wide search. I do know I'll zoom in on the right cat. Doing some wind-up stuff here on the ranch so I can leave and there's plenty to do so, I gotta get back outside. More later,J | | |
