I just got in to work in gulfport from ocean springs..and I been through many hurricanes in my life ..and i will never ride one out again....NEVER... my house is 25 feet above sea level and it went up 24.5 feet at my house.. i watched the last 5 feet of it rise in less than 15 minutes....unfortunately the ocean springs yacht club is just 8 sticks sticking out of the ground now...and i want to thank all who called (or tried to) to make sure that i was ok....especially bob curry for his posting that i was ok.....many of my friends saw it .....

we now are crying some
laughing some
and working ALOT

The good news is that there are still 8 sticks showing out the ground. I was worried the ground it stood on would have been eroded away. Once the most important human needs are addressed we can move to dreaming of rebuilding this yacht club - a little slice of paradise on the gulf coast

We are planning an expedition next weekend to Ocean Springs to help out the locals.

Chris.

Y'all are welcome in SLC, 4200 feet above sea level. But heartfelt congratulations on your survival, and best wishes for reconstruction of the yacht club and town.

Terry, Relieved to hear yet another family made it through without serious injury. I am so sorry you all are facing that unimagineable mess, and the tremendous challenges it presents! I just posted some comments on the importance of this forum to me personally, then came back to reread your post and saw Chris's. I like those Texas City folks! When it does come time to rebuild OSYC I'd like to find a way to contribute. Wishing you all a safe recovery from this disaster.

Ok, our trip is usually at the end of Feb, how many cat and mono-skiers can you take?
