Sounds like the East has some good momemtum for F16 class growth--still only a few of us out west but we would welcome any lurkers out there to come for a sail.

Photo attached of Paul at midwinters in Long Beach(?)--looks like a bear away or reaching leg, and it looks like Paul has changed from his hallmark fluorescent orange beanie (to match his kite).

Ya, that's the windward mark rounding...shouldn't he be hoisting something?

WE MISSED THE ORANGE BEANIE THIS YEAR! Made it MUCH harder to spot him and he was able to sneak up and nearly pass us in one race...then for some unknown reason he decided to do some single-handed righting-after-capsize practise! Thanks Paul

PS where did you get that photo? The shots I've seen on the GTSPhoto commercial site are all marked with "proof" and are very tiny. There are some good ones of us there, but you can't get the files, just the hard copies (for a price)...or am I wrong?

Mike.

... Hiya Mike !

Saturday morning Jay Glaser was going over my boat set up - he had a bunch of suggestions about small stuff that should be changed and the rational for the change. Then Pease Glaser made some rather specific recommendations about how the luff , outhaul and sheet should be set and how the sail should look if I get these adjustments right. I listened ,but was nervous about the race and anxious to get in the water so I don't remember much of what was said (idiot)...
Then my wife came by and I instantly forgot all about the sail. the race, getting out to the course... I can remember her exact words and could repeat them to you today as if read from a court stenographers report. Regarding my "Lucky Orange Beanie" ,(which by the way I've worn in every regatta, in atleast one race, regardless of triple digit ambient temperatures) , she said, " Here, gimme that ratty orange thing and put this one on." I did so at once.

So, to summarize : I had two World Authorities on the nuance of catamaran excellence at my disposal for a good thirty minutes - free of charge. I asked nothing and remember little of the advice given me... But, my wife comes by and takes my lucky beanie ( i'm sure this explains my
capsize in the light wind of that first race) and I'm present , attentive , focused and ultimately beanieless....

I called the photographer and bought some pic's. for the article i've submitted to Catamaran Sailor. He'll e-mail the file to you if you request...

Hope to see you at 'round Anacapa this year and good luck this season on Afterburner !!

Paul,

So are you saying the orange beanie is gone??? That's just not right. I'll try and get another for you from some CalTrans workers...
