Talking about his on another forum prompted this question. Any thoughts on stretching the N20 to 10' beam?

This has probably been talked about, but having difficulty finding it in the search engine..

I did dig up some prior posts about this concept (and adding wings/racks to the standard platform). I guess I'd keep the sailplan the same, as it appears to be larger than the Tornado.

I wouldn't use alum. Use the current beams as a mold and make some out of composites.

If you're going to throw the class rules to the wind, might as well go all the way.

I-20 front beam is a d-shaped extrusion so it would be cumbersome to get something else to fit. The composite beam is an interesting idea. Performance gets their extrusions and cuts them to fit. I'm sure they could provide a 10' section.

my beams would not fit because they are telescopic and one side is wider than the other. I put some feelers out. I will have an answer for you today.

you can already buy racks that fit the NACRA F18, not sure they fit the N20 or not, but I just sold some covers to a guy in Cali with racks on his new NACRA F18, he says he loves them! Are they class legal? Vant find anything contrary in the F18 rules....

Racks don't fit the bill. The distance from the mast to the leward hull is critical. If you add a few feet with racks all that you get is the added weight outboard. That helps but is not as effective as moving the leward hull and the crew weight further away from center.
