Posts: 984 2017 F18 Americas Site | That is interesting I thought that the Worlds were going to be in Jervis Bay about 100 miles south of Sydney. According to the International Formula 18 site this is the link but I cannot get to it right now. Later, Dan | | | Re: 2007 Australian Formula 18 World Championships

Posts: 1,669 Melbourne, Australia | Posted on behalf of Mark Laruffa Hi I see we getting a fair bit of interest for the worlds Australia 2007 as you see from the photos it's a spectacular location sailing conditions are typical tropical Queensland with warm waters and we have wind charts with readings at six am every three hours to six in the evening in the month of February from 1994 to 2006 showing that there is a 80% chance that the wind at 9 a.m. will come in from the East to South-east at 9 to 10 knots and at 12 noon the wind will shift to the east and strengthened to 20 knots every day!!! the location of the course is on the waters adjacent the rydges resort which is surrounded by tropical islands and further out to sea by the Great Barrier Reef the dates have not yet been confirmed but we propose the event to be run from the 18th to the 25th of February the event website is currently under construction and we hope within a fortnight it'll be up and running it will contain all regatta information, on-site booking for accommodation and registration to the event,it will also list any boats that will be available for charter, recommended tourist destinations and flight data. If you are keen to make any internal flights bookings I would recommend Virgin Blue or JetStar both fly to Rockhampton right now online Virgin Blue have got specials either from Sydney or Brisbane to Rockhampton for as cheap as $89 that's Australian Dollors, Qantas has a domestic carrier called Qantas link they too fly to Rockhampton but only use small propeller type aircraft. Finally I would like to say that I've been sailing now over 25 years and have competed in national or world events in just about every part of the globe, this event will be truly a special event. Picture this you are just finishing the fourth race with 18 knots 30° in tropical blue water with a glitter of white caps, you now return to the beach to drop the sails to meet your wife who is ful of joy, as she has been able to watch the first two hours of racing from the cafe located in the viewing area which is located 20 feet above the water surrendered by palm trees, she then dusted off the kids and Put them in the free of charge day-care centre, so she could enjoy a one-hour treat at the resort day spa, you both now head to the pool area to have the evening swim while been served drinks from the poolside bar and enjoying the company of your sailing friends, before making a choice of which restaurant you would like to dine in tonight. Now! do you think the next time you want to go to a worlds you will need to ask for permission?????????? See You in Paradise. | | | Re: 2007 Australian Formula 18 World Championships
