whats the purpose of lacing your tramp like that? if you dont mind my asking... also it seems like that design would not be good for big waves, it seems like it would catch on the tramp, or does that not happen, i dont know

Too cheap to buy the third piece of the tramp. It must be really interesting going through a wave and have the tramp act like a scoop. If there's a sudden stop someone may find themselves jammed between the crossbar and the dolphin striker. That would be a picture!

I can't imagine how that could possibly help out in any way, I'm thinking someone read the manual upside down, or maybe they're seeing something im not, either way, I would not want to pitch with that, i can just see a leg or foot getting caught and.....ouch........that would be painful.

The dolphin striker is only meant from vertical pressure like from the mast pushing down on the base not horizontal.
So what would happen if you put a few really fat guys on the tramp? Would the dolphin striker be pulled back to the point that the mast would go through the front crossbeam. Now that would be a Kodak moment.

I can just see this boat now, hull way up in the air, hit a wave, bow dives, then the giant scoop shaped tramp pulls the boat down also once it hits the water. The sailors would be sleeping with the fish quickly.

I just saw this boat for sell on ebay, I was wondering where the pictures were coming from? The boat looks okay other than the odd tramp lacing.

well im glad to see that im not the only one confused by this strange apparatus, but is that seriously the best reason for doing this???? saving a little cash and not buying a 3rd pieces of cord??? im a poor college kid... but not that poor...

Agreed it is not properly laced, but it made me think of what it would be like if the third piece was attached to the front crossbeam and the tramp was laced to it? One benefit would be that the main sheet wouldn't fall through, but that could be easily solved in other ways. A problem would be that the skipper would lose the rear lacing as a place to dig in a heel when flying a hull and not in the trapeze. Thoughts anyone?

I've seen it done in the deep, dark past but can't remember the justification.

There wouldnt be anywhere for the water to drain on the old vinyl tramps.....that would really stink, to have to sit in a puddle on a not-so-windy day.....

Yeah, the water would be a problem and that tramp lacing is a great hand hold when the boat starts to pitch forward!! I can just see people sliding forward and getting caught in the lacing!

ive never had a problem with my tramp draining really, if there is ever any water on it, i just get off of it, and it drains off, but still, is that really the best explanation for that lacing???

I think the "best explanation" is they bought the boat without the tramp installed and in a testosterone-laden stupor that was their best effort.
