Right, lets dust off the history books on this one with some other examples of pinko-commie environmentalists...

So, Rachel Carson, yea, that was all some leftist extremism, right? Those pesticides and DDTs all a bunch of made up propaganda to promote some conspiracy against the chemical companies that are only trying to help all of us.

Lets go back further, anyone heard of Claire Patterson? He was a real crazy environmentalist, he said that lead in gasoline was getting into the environment. Blasphemy!! We all know that lead in gasoline is good! BTW he was also to first person to successfully determine the age of the earth. What a quack!!

Oh, yea, the mercury thing, just more made up environmentalism.

The truth is in another 20 years, it will be well accepted in this country (as it already has in the rest of the developed world) that global climate change due to anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide is real, and the interests of corporate America will be fighting off those crazy environmentalists about some other issue that is totally made up and a scam.

If you go back and look at the both the pesticides and lead issues in the media, you'll see the opposition language is exactly the same. That these were both scams made up by communists, extremists, with some agenda that is going to harm the economy and cause the collapse of American society.

The real questions that remain are what are going to be the magnitude of the effect, not whether it is happening. And that is where the uncertainty remains, how much will sea level rise? How much will local weather patterns change? How will this affect our ability to produce food, and have fresh clean water?

But I know most people would rather just argue, point fingers, and draw political lines in the sand rather than look at this as an opportunity to do something good for generations to come, and re-vitalize our own economy with renewable energy. Because the truth is this probably won't drastically change our lives day to day, but it will for your kids and grand kids, and that seems like it should be enough motivation to at least be open minded about the issue and seek to find ways to curb fossil fuel emissions.

Then again, I've been accused of being an "environmentalist" before, so perhaps this is all part of the grand conspiracy to topple the economy and live in ruins, as we all know that is really what all environmentalists want!
