What is the strategy behind that? Is it working?

I was convinced that the pack I was in (Blow boat, Aldabra and Ariadna) were not going to manage to sail around the east side of the high pressure and so (late) elected to sail around the west of it. So far I've lost about 4500 places getting where I want to be; however it looks like the systems are moving faster east than I was expecting.

When I plotted it out; it was close as to making the west route, but less intervention was required (I am Ski instructing all day today and tomorrow with no access to the boat) than taking the east route.

Thus I decided it was worth a punt as I would probably loose 50 miles to them anyway as a result of lack of "boat time". As it is I am about 160miles behind them.

I have taken a big flyer, very few have followed me; most have followed the rhumb line.

If it works, I'll hopefully slot back in around 300-500th; if it does not I'll be around 6-8K!!

It was essentially forced on me as I could not care for the boat much today and tomorrow and the west route required less "work"; but MUCH higher risk.

The next wind update will be critical. If it parks zero wind on the rhumb line around where Blow boat et al are, I should be able to sail around them in the next 12 hours. IF I end up blocked; or they have good wind/angle, I'm stuffed!!

As I said; high risk!!!
