Don't you still get friction there during your hoists? If that is a pinch-point since it is not in a direct line from the cleat at the bottom and the turning block at the top, then you are expending extra Newtons at a critical time during your race...
If there's no friction there, however, then it's a good place to run it - It seems like I remember the double spreader arms on the 6.0 were handy that way when rigging a 'chute.
