Dave, I bought the whole setup 5 years ago and it was $225. You can see the set up here. The aluminum arms are really heavy, so a carbon replacement is a big upgrade.
What I am making is a carbon version of the arm - 450mm long and a bit wider, I took a mold off of a model helicopter blade that I modified, so it's wing shaped. You still need the barrell adjusters and the brackets.
I will get weights for you so you can compare the savings.
OR... instead of paint, go to a Hobby Shop, pick up some thin mylar sticky back film, color of your choice, cut to size and stick it only on the top.
This might weigh even less than paint, and be easier to use, certainly cheaper, but I don't know about the UV blockage of the film but they use it for RC airplanes.

If weight saving is the overiding issue then it would be best to go uncoated and replace them after every weekend.
