Anybody interested in a set of carbon spreaders? I'm just finishing up a set and could pull a mold off them if anyone is interested in a pair.

They are made to bolt right onto the proctor brackets and adjuster parts. They are significantly lighter than the aluminum Proctor arms.

How much $ Bill? How much are the other Proctor parts? Appropriate for which masts?

Dave,
I bought the whole setup 5 years ago and it was $225. You can see the set up here. The aluminum arms are really heavy, so a carbon replacement is a big upgrade.

http://www.apsltd.com/c-947-selden-proctordinghymastboomspreaderparts.aspx

What I am making is a carbon version of the arm - 450mm long and a bit wider, I took a mold off of a model helicopter blade that I modified, so it's wing shaped. You still need the barrell adjusters and the brackets.

I will get weights for you so you can compare the savings.

Pics are coming. Waiting for the mold to cure, the original part is inside.

Watch out for down drafts and micro-birst durring landings!

If you want the anti funnel gunnel mirco burst pitch dampeners, its going to be extra.

the part is 500mm, not 450mm.

weight is .35kg, which is easily half the aluminum ones.

They will get painted white to reflect any UV and keep them cool and stiff and prevent any electron swapping with the aluminum bracket and adjuster.

You are only going to paint the tops, right? Why add all that weight to the bottom where it won't see sunlight? grin

OR... instead of paint, go to a Hobby Shop, pick up some thin mylar sticky back film, color of your choice, cut to size and stick it only on the top.

This might weigh even less than paint, and be easier to use, certainly cheaper, but I don't know about the UV blockage of the film but they use it for RC airplanes.

If weight saving is the overiding issue then it would be best to go uncoated and replace them after every weekend. crazy
