Posts: 9 Parkdale, Vic | I'v had the same problem happen to my cobra, you will need to rip off the deck and fiberglass the frame back in. In my case i made a new frame because it had split!
Best way is to mix up some fiberglass bog and use a big ice-cream stick to smooth around between the hull and the frame. Then place some fiberglass tape to secure the frame.

Posts: 502 Port Noarlunga, SA, Australia | no the boat is completely fiberglass, deck, hull etc, the bulkhead is just a support that is cut to the shape of the cross section of the hull that I presume gives support under the forward cross beam that supports the mast. i would imagine that this would be the most stressed part of the hull. Maybe members could let me know if this bulkhead is in place in their fiberglass boats or if the hull is purely empty? Just noticed you are in Port Noarlunga South, I live there too so I can check out this bulkhead problem if you want. Send me a pm with your phone number. Hi Rob, What was the cause of the problem ? Since both the Cobra and the Mosquito are similar they would have the similar stresses in that area. Would a stiffer bulkhead at initial build fix the problem or do you think that a stiffer hull doubler is better ? I assume that there were no issues with the original attachment. Maybe that's just a wild assumption. Regards, Peter

Posts: 9 Parkdale, Vic | umm not sure on cause, as the frame was broken when i bought the boat,
I suspect that the hull had been hit by something as it looks like it has been repaired but they did not notice/fix the broken frame...
We simpley took the deck off pulled out the old frame and replaced it with 10mm foam sandwich fiberglass frame... however the old frame's had big air-flow holes in them - maybe this is why mine broke and came lose.

Posts: 556 Somers, Westernport Bay, Victo... | Rob, Big airflow holes !! What were they thinking !! I assume you used structural grade foam for the new frame. Is it just a single frame or are there other stiffeners as well ? I have seen some Mozzies where they have some other frame type stiffening close to the front beams. Regards, Peter

Posts: 9 Parkdale, Vic | pete, We used 10mm foam with a layer of 6oz cloth on each side. then cut it to the shape. Normally you use 4mm foam for hulls i think so yes its a very strong frame now... we also cut 2 50mm holes instead of 2 100mm air flow holes so it should be alot better. We also placed 2 half frames below the front deck to stiffen it up alot After all of the changes to both hulls the boat still came in under weight
