The technical name, according to the owner's manual (available free on the AHPC site) is the "anti-fouling loop." Simple piece of plastic tubing that keeps slackened spin halyards from getting behind the spreader arms. AHPC didn't come up with this idea - I first saw them on Hobie Tigers quite a while ago. The Hobie guys were using a simple piece of line tied in a loop. I've seen a lot of Nacra 20 guys use this as well. The Cap was the first boat that I saw with the tubing (stiffer than line) as a stock part, with holes drilled in the spreader arms for attaching the tubing with a tiny stainless bolt and lock-nut.
